Romijn to wake ‘sleeping giant’ Northern Academy

The former Head of Sport at Mitchell House, Frederick Romijn, aims to help Northern Academy produce good academic results and turn it into one of the best schools in the city.

The 41-year-old was appointed as Headmaster of Northern Academy Secondary School in January and believes he has all the attributes to make the school a hub of excellence.

“The school is a sleeping giant and I am happy to be part of its growth. I am excited about the new challenge and look forward to help the school produce good results.”

Romijn told Polokwane Review that he will also be focusing on developing sport and culture at the school, adding that he is going for a holistic approach.

“There are many learners who possess immense talent in sport and cultural activities and I want to assist them achieve these goals.”

Romijn has a degree of education law from the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in education through the North West University.

He says his family is his biggest motivation, having been brought up in a home of academics.

“My father was a headmaster and my mother, a teacher. I always marveled their success and how they loved education. I want to carry on with their legacy,” he concluded.
