Water-shedding: ‘Relief for Flora Park, Serala View’

Following a trial run, the Polokwane Municipality has announced a structured water supply management system in the form of a water-shedding schedule for the city’s high-lying areas.

The Polokwane Municipality will implement a structured water supply management operation to supply water to higher lying areas in the city.

According to Spokesperson Thipa Selela, water-shedding is seen as a solution to ensure that the high-lying areas, including Flora Park and Serala View, do not experience continuous water shortages as has been for a long time.

“We believe this exercise will bring relief to the affected areas,” a statement reads.

Water-shedding will be implemented in these areas weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 16:00 and 04:00.

Selela said a trial run was carried out over the last few days, which seemed to have yielded positive results.

He appealed to consumers in the CBD, Nirvana and Ivy Park to be patient as the water-shedding in the high-lying areas will limit the flow to their areas on the scheduled days.

“We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of all during this difficult period of water scarcity and urge all to continue using water sparingly,” he concluded.
