‘Group of boys’ sought for man’s murder

The man was stabbed after he and his friends were chased down by a group of boys from Moletjie, the police said.

LIMPOPO – Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Col Nneke Ledwaba has condemned the death of a 24-year-old from Moletjie and has called on the community to come forward with information that can assist the police in arresting those involved.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the man was stabbed to death “by boys from a group” in the area during a reported gansterism-related incident near Ga-Mokgokong village on the evening of Tuesday, 12 January.

“The men and his friends were chased by a group of boys when he was separated from his group. He was then cornered by those who were chasing him, and stabbed to death.” The police were summoned to the scene, along with emergency medical services. “

On arrival they found the victim lying in a pool of blood. He had multiple stab wounds and was certified dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is not yet known.

Ngoepe added that the motive behind the attack is still under investigation, however gangsterism has not been ruled out.
