Polokwane cops swoop down on yet another drug dealer, recover drugs to the value of over R1 million

The 40-year-old foreign national is believed to be one of the main drug distributors in the city.

POLOKWANE – An alleged drug dealer who the police believe may one of the main distributors of drugs in the city, was arrested during a joint police operation on Friday, 8 January.

Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Mamphaswa Seabi says police received information about a man dealing in drugs from a particular house in the city. “Members of the Limpopo Highway Patrol (LHP) and the Tracing Team conducted an intelligence driven operation and the 40-year-old foreign national was arrested at his home, yesterday afternoon.”

Seabi added that during the arrest the police also recovered large quantities of drugs, which included nyaope, crystal meth and various drug manufacturing chemicals. “

The value of the recovered drugs is over R1 million.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was possibly the kingpin distributor of drugs to local dealers who were selling on the streets in the city,” he said.

The accused will appear before Polokwane magistrate’s court soon on a charge of possession and dealing in drugs.
