POLOKWANE – A case of business robbery has been opened by the police in Polokwane, following a robbery at a security company in the city.
The incident reportedly happened between the night of 26 December and the early hours of 27 December, said Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.
“The police in Polokwane have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects who broke into the security company’s premises in the city. It is believed that the suspects forced opened the door with an unknown object to gain entry into the premises. They then went to the safe and stole the said firearms, an unknown number of ammunition and one computer with its keyboard,” Mojapelo’s statement reads.
He said police are also investigating whether or not these firearms were kept in accordance with the provisions governing the safe keeping of firearms.
The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Maj Gen Jan Scheepers, has expressed his displeasure on this incident. “As we continue to fight against violent crimes perpetrated through firearms, we cannot afford to have these firearms landing up in the wrong hands,” added Scheepers.

Police investigations are still continuing, concluded Mojapelo.
