Festive season blessings – Education MEC

It is an opportunity to look into the future with hope and optimism for a brighter future.

As we come close to the end of the year 2020, let us give thanks and pray for the blessings of the year and the season. It is an opportunity to look into the future with hope and optimism for a brighter future. The 2020 academic year in the education sector has been the most challenging, complex and unpredictable.
Covid-19 presented its challenges to the education system and imposed on us a new normal. A new way of conducting the business of delivering quality education to the thousands of learners who have been entrusted to us by parents, guardians and caregivers.
2020 was indeed full of remarkable and challenging moments in many areas of our education in the province.
As we welcome Christmas and the New Year with all the joy, excitement and merriment that is part of the tradition, we do so secure in our minds that our education prevailed solely because of the collaboration and cooperation we received from all our stakeholders in the sector.
We worked together to manage the spread of Covid-19 in our schools and accordingly resumed with the academic activities that saw us salvaging the 2020 academic year.
The spirit is to always seek to transform and deliver quality education in an effective and efficient way.
With Christmas and the New Year upon us, let us all be reminded of the ideals and virtues of service to humanity.
Our commitment to improve the lives of citizens for the better is embodied in the Christmas spirit. It is a period that fills our souls with gratitude for many blessings in our lives. During this special time of the year we are reminded to spread the message of love and mercy, especially to the vulnerable and the less fortunate.
We are delighted to extend seasons’ greetings to all of our social partners and stakeholders for your commitment to ensure the department continues to provide quality basic education. I would also like to extend my gratitude to our staff members, management, learners, parents and educators for their support in 2020. Your support during the year helped us on the journey to fulfill our mission of providing innovative quality basic education.
Let our learners stay safe and we urge parents to always know where their children are. Let us continue to wear masks, wash our hands and keep the required social distance.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. May the good God richly bless you!
