Limpopo Highway Patrol team arrest man in Polokwane CBD for possession of illicit cigarettes

In a separate incident, a man was arrested in Mankweng for the possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

POLOKWANE – Members of the Limpopo Highway Patrol Team made two arrests on Monday, 21 December, through their intensified parallel operations.

According to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Mamphaswa Seabi, two men were arrested at different locations. One was arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes, while the other man was found in possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

“The members patrolling in Polokwane nabbed a 48-year-old suspect for possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes. The members acted on positive information about a foreign national suspected of selling illicit cigarettes at his shop in the CBD. Upon arrival, they searched the shop and found 60 packs of Remington Gold cigarettes with an estimated street value of R800. The suspect was arrested on the spot,” Seabi explained.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation conducted in the Mankweng area, members followed information about a suspected stolen motor vehicle driving towards Boyne.

They responded with assistance from a tracking company.

“The said vehicle was stopped near Mankgaile village under the Mankweng policing area. The vehicle was found to be reported stolen at Bronkhorstspruit SAPS earlier this month and a 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle,” Seabi added.
