Limpopo: Nearby holiday excursions offer fun for all

Sitting at home during the December holiday can be a bit of a bore. Review spoke to a Bruce Nobala, a tour guide from Nhlamulo Destinations on destinations residents can visit for a week-end or longer for fun family activities.

POLOKWANE –  All the destinations offer day visits and overnight accommodation at the venue or nearby is easily accessible. Bruce helped us complied a list of ten destinations. Where possible call and find out more such as entrance fees or book your visit or adventure to avoid disappointment.

Lion and Predator Park

The Tzaneen Lion and Predator Park offers animal interactions for big and small. Play with lion cubs, tigers, servals and caracals and see white lions and many other types of animals on the interaction tour, or book a game drive. Agatha Crocodile Ranch

The farm offers adventurous daily tours, an opportunity to touch a baby crocodile, feed the crocodiles and a local art gallery. The farm is located in Tzannen and has quickly become a tourist attraction. Contact them at 015 307 4398.

Tshipise Forever Resort

The resort can be found just after the Baobob toll gate on the N1 to Musina. It offers visitors chalets, rooms and a camping site as overnight accommodation. It has a variety of swimming pools even boasts a natural hot water pool from the Tshipise hot water spring. Contact them on 015 539 0634.

Kruger National Park

The Kruger national park is a must visit. Laying on the Limpopo and Mpumalanga province it offers a variety of day and overnight activities. The park can be accesed from a variety of gates from Limpopo with the most common being the Punda Maria gate.

Makapan caves

The caves depict the history of the Ndebele people and resistance wars dating back 151 years. This is where extensive cultural and palaeontological deposits have played a crucial role in furthering our understanding of later human evolution and the appearance of modern man.

Magoebaskloof canopy rides

The tour includes awesome slides and viewpoints over three huge waterfalls, each going down up to 20 metres into a beautiful river. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings on each level as trained guides detail interesting facts about the fauna, flora and ecology of the surrounding environment.

Zwakala breweries

The brewery restaurant overlooks the Wolkberg Mountains and is one of the most peaceful places to enjoy the day and scenery. The place is children and pet friendly offering gourmet burgers and a children’s entertainment area.
