“Unfavourable weather conditions and a slippery road have been noted as possible causes of the incident,” Maringa explained.

Drivers have to adjust their speed and following distances when it rains, as rain lifts oil and debris from road surfaces.

The Managing Director of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, provides some tips on driving in this weather.

In another incident, two people were killed in a collision involving two vehicles.

“Two vehicles, namely a sedan and a light duty vehicle, collided. The officer on scene alleged that the driver of one of the vehicles lost control of the vehicle and it overturned,” Maringa explained.

The driver and a passenger in the sedan were declared dead, while the driver and a passenger in the light duty vehicle sustained serious injuries.
