LIMPOPO – According to the Limpopo Health Department’s Covid-19 statistics of 18 December, 124 more cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours. The number of cumulative cases is 19 605, while the number of active cases climbed to 722.
The department says 124 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. The majority of new cases were recorded in the Capricorn district (42), followed by Waterberg (29) and Vhembe (22). The Mopani district had 19 new cases, while 11 new cases were recorded in Sekhukhune. One of the new cases has been unallocated.
Polokwane had the most new cases (36), followed by Greater Tzaneen (14) and Thabazimbi (10).
In a statement, the department noted that, due to “differences in reporting methods, retrospective data consolidation and reporting delays”, the number of cases and deaths may not always add up subsequently.
“The Covid-19 Data Centre is in a process of consolidation of Covid-19 related deaths. Reported deaths in the last 24 hours are cumulative and did not all occur during this period,” the statement’s disclaimer reads.
Thus far, 524 deaths have been recorded.
A total of 127 197 tests have been conducted to date, with the majority done by the private sector (77 312). The public sector has conducted the other 49 885.
