POLOKWANE – Known as the ‘confidence activator’, Legodi told BONUS that she was there to reassure learners that they can make it out of the village and that their destiny is not determined by their background. The Principal, Mahlodi Maila says the school produces excellent results, boasting as the circuit’s number one school for three consecutive years, despite human resource challenges and a lack of infrastructure. “The majority of our learners come from disadvantaged families and they are either orphans or stay with their grandparents, as parents have to leave them in order to make ends meet. Due to these circumstances, many of the learners do not dream beyond the village, while some cannot afford to further their studies, as a result matric remains the highest qualification for most of them,” Mahlodi said.

Legodi explained that she was invited by a student teacher at the school, Lucy Raludzwidzwo and during the visit, she also gave the learners Bibles as a form of awakening their confidence in the word of God, as well as her branded skipping ropes to encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle. “I hope that my skipping ropes will motivate them to pursue business opportunities,” she said.

Legodi added that she currently has a Donate-A-Bible initiative running and is encouraging community involvement. “The learners lit up during her session and could not stop raving about her impact after the session. The self-awareness exercises that she facilitated illuminated so much light for our learners,” Mahlodi said.
