Jail and Bail: Bosveld journalist arrested

Karen Greyling needs at least 10 good Samaritans to donate blood and bail her out.

MOKOPANE – The South African National Blood Service’s donor centre at 99 Thabo Mbeki and officials of the Traffic Department have joined forces to lock up people for a good cause.

Various people in Mokopane have been locked up and need at least 10 good Samaritans to come and donate blood to bail them out. One of the people who have been arrested was Bosveld journalist, Karen Greyling, who pleaded for the people of Mokopane to come out and support the good cause.

Karen and owner of Bosveld Canteen, Louis Janssens, was arrested at a local mall earlier today.

The centre is open until 17:00 and residents are urged to call 015 2833635 in order to make an appointment and help save lives this December.

According to SANBS’ website, their current blood stock is at 3,5 days. “Traditionally, December is a difficult time for the SANBS, with limited access to corporate blood drives and availability of donors, impacting on the ability to collect the minimum of 3 500 units of blood a day that are needed to treat patients. We approach this season with low stocks and we know that we have some tough times ahead if donors do not respond to our call to lend a hand,” said SANBS Chief Operations Officer, Ravi Redd, in a statement.
