POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has earlier today announced the Leeto La Polokwane Phase 1A operations. The announcement was done at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex where members of the media were given an opportunity to ride in the Leeto La Polokwane bus.
Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng says the Leeto La Polokwane is a modern affordable transport service that is befitting a naturally progressive city. Polokwane Review spoke to Baconi Mokoena, Financial Manager for Raw Industries which is the a black female owned company that was responsible for manufacturing the buses.
Mokoena took us through the bus explaining the different features. “The buses are all locally produced and have been tailor made to suit the needs of the Polokwane community, taking in consideration the environment as well.”
Some of the features include:
- Internal CCTV footage accessible to the driver during the ride.
- Wheelchair ramp and designated spot.
- Voice over guide alerting passenger of the bustops
The Leeto la Polokwane is meant to hit the streets in March 2021.
