Man sentenced to life imprisonment terms plus 15 years for murder, robbery

23-year-old Mahlodi Sunset Mochebana was sentenced for the brutal murder of Seshego resident, Poulos Setwaba (33).

LIMPOPO – A local man has been sentenced to life imprisonment with an added 15 years in jail after he was convicted of murder and robbery by the Polokwane High Court.

Police Spokesperson, Col  Moatshe Ngoepe says Mahlodi Sunset Mochebana (23) was found guilty of killing 33-year-old Poulos Setwaba on 7 May 2018.

“The body of Setwaba was dumped at Moletjie Marowe sports ground in the Seshego policing area outside Polokwane. Residents in the area found his body found covered with branches and immediately alerted the police.”

A case of murder was opened and a manhunt for the suspect ensued until the accused was arrested and positively linked to this case. It was also revealed that the deceased was robbed of his cellphone which was found in possession of the accused during the arrest, Ngoepe added.

“The case was thoroughly investigated by detective, Cpt Mokibelo Maleka from the Seshego Police Station who ensured that the accused remained behind bars until he was ultimately sentenced.”

The sentencing was welcomed by Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba who also commended the investigating officer for the ‘exceptional investigative skills he displayed on this matter until justice is served’.
