Limpopo police launch manhunt for inmate who killed warrant officer, escaped

A 57-year-old warrant officer was killed during a routine visit to the cells at the Mutale Police Station. Police have since called on Nyadzani Muvhuso (attached photo) to assist them in this investigation.

LIMPOPO – Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, Provincial Police Commissioner has instructed police to launched a 72-hour activation plan in order to track down the inmate who stabbed and killed a 57-year-old Warrant Officer (WO) attached to the Mutale Police Station.

The WO was stabbed on Friday, 27 November at around 16:30 during a routine visit to the police cells.

According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe the suspect attacked and stabbed the deceased several times, then he took the safe keys from the officer and stole the money from the safe before he escaped.

Ngoepe added that the suspect was earlier the day arrested on charges of rape, kidnapping and violation of an order of protection. “He was previously incarcerated on other crimes.”

A case of murder, robbery and escaping from lawful custody have been opened. “The police are calling on Nyadzani Muvhuso (attached photo) to avail himself at the Mutale Police Station, as it is believed he will be able to assist in the investigations.
