POLOKWANE – The four accused in the Deacon murders were denied bail and the case was postponed to 3 December for further police investigations, says Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
Sophie Mmako (51), Lazarus Mahlo (41), Advance Amid (30) and Casper Mudau (35) appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 27 November. They each face wo counts of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and kidnapping.
During their last court appearance Mmako and Mudau offered to pay R1 000 bail, but were bail. Amid and Mahlo earlier abandoned their bail application.

The four were arrested following a 72-hour activation plan after Lizette and Hettie’s bodies were found on the R37 on the evening of 10 September.
Police are still looking for Owen Setsiba/Makutara/Mbedzi (pictured above) and have offered a R250 000 reward to anyone who has valuable information that can lead to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
