Limpopo PSL teams hungry for more points

Black Leopards got their first points for the season while Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila beat Baroka FC in the Limpopo-derby.

LIMPOPO – Black Leopards have their first points of the DStv Premiership 2020/2021 season, thanks to a 1-0 win against Maritzburg United over the weekend.

Both teams headed into the game at the Thohoyandou Stadium, without a single point, in a highly- contested bottom of the log clash.

Leopards came out on top to the delight of their coach, Dylan Kerr, who said his side can recover from their slow start this season.

“We need to tighten up at the back and not make the same mistakes we did in the previous games. We make a lot of mistakes which end up giving our opponents scoring opportunities. I believe we have worked on them and we are always improving,” he said.

Kerr said their mentality is set on winning every match, but conceded that one of their main problems this season, is a lack of goals.

“We need to do something about it. Quality is needed up there and drastic measures have to be taken.”

The pressure has undoubtedly piled on after their early season form, but Kerr said he is used to the pressure.

“I am not comfortable with losing games. I don’t like that, but I believe we can turn things around.”

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila came out on top over the weekend when they beat Baroka FC 1-0 in the second Limpopo-derby of the season. They face Chippa United away from home next, and will hope to grab more points.

TTM coach, Joel Masutha said they will not undermine United and aim to win the match.

He said they were ready for whatever heat they might come across in the match and added that his team has been training hard.

“We are ready for the match and we need to keep on creating chances. We shall be the team that satisfies the standard of supporters.”
