Hijackers arrested outside Polokwane Traffic Department
The SPS High Risk Unit assisted in the arrest of two men, in connection with a hijacking in Johannesburg earlier this month.
POLOKWANE – Two men were arrested on Vermikuliet Street, outside the Polokwane Traffic Department in Ladanna, earlier today.
The SPS High Risk unit facilitated the arrest and the unit’s Jason van Rensburg, says they received intel on the hijacking which led them to the area where the said vehicle was found.
Three men were in the vehicle but one managed to get away.
“It was the swift response of the Polokwane and Westenburg Police that assisted in the arrest of the two suspects. Investigations will however continue till the third suspect is apprehended.”
Johan Duvenhage (Ladanna CPF) was also on the scene and said the assistance from the police was highly appreciated. It is believed the suspects had intentions to scrap the car off but were intercepted before they could.
The suspects were taken to the Westenburg police station where they will be held before appearing in court, soon.
