Polokwane Municipality: ‘Reservoir levels at their lowermost’

According to Lepelle Northern Water, the Olifantspoort Plant is off due to off-take repairs in Lesetsi.

POLOKWANE – All areas of water supply are suffering, according to a statement by Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala.

Selala said this as he notified water users that the Olifantspoort Plant has stopped pumping, which Lepelle Northern Water indicates, is due to off-take repairs in Lesetsi, Ga-Mphahlele.

“The situation has affected all areas of supply from Ga-Chuene to the city and Seshego. The water utility has estimated four hours until completion of repairs. Water supply to the affected areas shall be restored once LNW starts pumping to Polokwane again,” he added.

Selala said the stoppage comes at a time where the supply from the Ebenezer scheme is unstable.

“As a result, there has been a severe drop in reservoir levels which affects all areas of supply. According to this morning’s readings, the scheme is not pumping and reservoir levels are at their lowermost with Potgieter sitting at 0%”

The municipality called on user to be ‘water warriors’  and make water conservation their responsibility to ensure water availability to all.
