The police in Westenburg are investigating a case of murder after the body of an unknown male in his late twenties was found at Rainbow Park yesterday (Wednesday). The body was discovered at around 06:55 with multiple visible sjambok wounds on his back.
The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage, and investigations are continuing.
A resident staying close to the park says another man stumbled into their yard at around 22:00 on Tuesday evening, also with multiple wounds saying he and a friend had been robbed and requested assistance by calling an ambulance.
“The man told us that he managed to escape but does not know where his friend is or if he is alive. We called the emergency services and he was taken to the provincial hospital last night.”
The resident says there was a bit of commotion just before the injured man approached them and says he believes the body might have been the friend to the injured man.
This, however, was not confirmed by the police.
