Limpopo Police Commissioner activates Airwing unit to assist in search for man (70)

The missing man was last seen heading towards a mountain near his home, on 10 November

ex: LIMPOPO – A search is currently underway for 70-year-old Frans Chipu who went missing after he went into the mountains on 10 November.

According to police reports the missing man left his home in Inveraan village at around 08:00 the morning and was on his way to Gananwa mountain in Senwabarwana policing area outside Polokwane.

When he did not return, concerned residents reported him missing at the local police station.

Col Moatshe Ngoepe says at the time a police search operation was activated and searches were conducted in and around the area including at his relatives, without any success.

“Police search operations are still underway with the support from private search and rescue teams.”

“Today, Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba called in several more police units which include; the Airwing unit, K9 unit and the Search and Rescue Team, to maximise the ongoing search operations.”

Frans was last seen wearing a red work suit with a blue cap and black boots. Anyone with information about his whereabouts can contact Det Sgt Jane Maruapula at 072 548 9990, the crime stop number at 08600 10111 or their nearest police station.
