Man (30) severely injured, left to die alongside road outside Louis Trichardt

Police suspect the deceased was killed during a mob justice attack.

LIMPOPO – The police are investigating the murder of  30-year-old man who was found alongside the road outside Louis Trichardt. The police earlier received a tip-off about a injured man lying alongside the road.

The police together with the medical emergency personnel arrived on the scene to find a severely injured man. He was certified dead at the scene.

The deceased, who has since been identified as Jerry Shumba Manyere, was according to Col Moatshe Ngoepe presumably killed after the community of Muraleni village in the Tshilwavhusiku policing area went on a rampage on Friday, 13 November. “It is alleged the deceased was blamed for being involved in criminal activities in and around the area. He sustained sever injuries and was certified dead on the scene by emergency medical personnel.”

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned ‘with the most strongest terms, the conduct of members of the said community for their acts. “Members of the community have been warned to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. They will be dealt with harshly and without compromise.”

He added that should anyone suspect any person to be involved in criminal activities they should inform the police. The suspects involved in this matter are still unknown and there is no arrest.
