Limpopo police launch Safer Festive Season Operations along N1 south

The Safer Festive Season Operations are aimed at ensuring a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors during this holiday season.

LIMPOPO – The police in the province launched the Safer Festive Season Operations in Limpopo on Friday, 13 November.

These operations, which are aimed at ensuring a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors during this holiday season, were launched through a series of roadblocks and stop and searches along the N1 south near the Kranskop Toll Plaza.

The launch was officiated by the Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba and was attended by  the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Policing Maj Genl Jan Scheepers, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Crime Detection Maj Genl Samuel Manala, the Waterberg District Commissioner Maj Genl Rosina Mulaudzi, the HOD of the Department of Transport and Community Safety, the provincial seads, the senior officers from other districts, station commanders, other law enforcement agencies from sister departments.

During his address to the joint parade, Ledwaba emphasised that law enforcement agencies must work to keep our communities safe and secure as mandated by section 205(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa

“We also recognise that serious crimes and corruption remains a priority in terms of the National Development Plan, Vision 2030 as well as the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Programme of Action in terms of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework in dealing with corruption elements within the organisation and ensure that there is no room for criminals to operate in and outside the organisation.”

He further thanked all the members for their dedication and selfless service to the community. “Let the members of the community declare that they are safe.”

This event follows the launch of the National Safer Festive Season operations by the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele on the 30 October 2020 in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State.
