The hair on a woman’s head is her crowning glory, her pride, and joy.
There are many products on the market that women use to enhance the beauty of their hair, to some the pantyhose phenomenon might be something new. To sleep with a pantyhose helps protect your hair during night.
Ria Mashaba, a resident in the city, explains: “The cotton on pillowcases is not good for our hair and causes damage. It is preferred we use satin pillowcases or cover our hair in silk.”
Wearing a pantyhose to protect your hair might not be flattering and that is why Ria decided to improve on this hair protection idea. “I used to wear a doek and my husband told me that it is not very sexy. I decided to search online and came across patterns for hair bonnets as well as turbans.
“These can be worn when you go to bed or during the day to cover your head.”
Ria is a stay-at-home mom who decided to start a business by making her own hair bonnets and turbans.
“This was in August. I grew up with a seamstress as a mother and my mother-in-law is also a seamstress. In the beginning, it took me an hour to make one bonnet, now it only takes 20 minutes.
“I make combo’s for moms and daughters as well. The bonnets are cheaper than the turbans because a different and less material is used. I also make matching scarves and masks.”
Ria sells her products from home as well as online and says she submitted a proposal to a big retail company to sell her items. She says she can definitely see growth in her business and will soon be able to employ other women.
