Raymond Papapavlou murder: Woman (23) to remain behind bars

Raymond Gregory Papapavlou (28) was shot and killed on a farm in the Rooikraal area outside Groblersdal on 5 October.  

LIMPOPO – The case against a 23-year-old woman arrested in connection with the murder of Raymond Gregory Papapavlou (28), has been postponed to 9 November.

The accused re-appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court today (Friday, 29 October) for formal bail application.

“The case against the accused was on the roll today, for application of the postponement of a formal bail application. The state was granted a postponement and the case was remanded to the 9 November for formal bail application,” said Mashudu Malabi Dzhangi, Regional Spokesperson for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Limpopo.

The suspect in the matter was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at around 13:00 and made her first court appearance in the same court on Thursday. She reportedly used to work with the deceased and his wife and faces a charge of conspiracy to murder.

LIMPOPO – The police have arrested a 23-year-old woman in connection with the murder of Raymond Gregory Papapavlou (28). This was confirmed to Review by Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe who added that the suspect was arrested at 13:00 on Wednesday, 28 October.

“The woman has not yet been charged and is expected to appear in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 30 October,” Ngoepe said.

Papapavlou was shot and killed on a farm in the Rooikraal area outside Groblersdal at around 03:00 on 5 October.

According to an earlier police report, the police arrived on the scene to find the wife of the deceased with other members of the community. The bullet-riddled body of the deceased was found in one of the rooms.

Groblersdal Police Spokesperson, Adj Officer Stanley Magaela earlier said that Papapavlou was shot five times. There weren’t signs of wrestling and Papapavlou was declared dead at the scene. He added that during the incident the wife reportedly shot several warning shots.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba at the time asked that the incident should be thoroughly investigated and the culprit(s) arrested.
