POLOKWANE – Lwandi Nonjolo wants to be a hero among men and hopes his business will help in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).
Lwandi offers safe, reliable transportation services to women and children in Seshego, Turfloop and Polokwane with door-to-door drop offs and personal trips.
“Violence is not the solution and I believe that women should be treated with respect, love and dignity. I want to make sure that women and children in our province are and feel safe from perpetrators and that they should not be scared to go home, shopping or anywhere in public without hesitation. I believe that no woman or child should be scared to walk the streets or use public transport, because this should be a free world and that’s the reason why we began our transportation service,” he added.

Lwandi is originally from the Eastern Cape but currently resides in Ladanna. “Whether the stories of human trafficking are true or not, I decided to take a stance and rather be safe than sorry,” he said.
He explained the initiative was founded during the late stages of lockdown level two and was established to keep people safe. “I am well-known and trustworthy, the least I could do is offer my services, this is my way of giving back to the community,” Lwandi said.
He is assisted by a few of his friends and they make use of two 14-seater family vehicles as well as two private vehicles to transport clients. “For now, customers can call directly. We communicate through our social media platforms but we are looking to expand the business to a point where we will use an app to make requests easier,” he said.
