[TAKE NOTE] Electricity supply restored to affected areas

The municipality is aware of the power outage and an electrical team is working to restore electricity supply to the affected areas.

POLOKWANE – Electricity supply has been restored to all affected areas, says Thipa Selala, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality.

Extensions 44, 65, 71, 75, 78 and Legae la Batho areas were without electricity for a couple of hours after Eskom identified a fault at the Alpha substation. The municipal supply line which supplies the affected areas had to be switched off in order for Eskom to repair the fault.

POLOKWANE – Extensions 44, 65, 71, 75, 78 and Legae la Batho will be without power for another 2-3 hours.

According to a statement issued by Thipa Selala, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality a fault was detected at the Alpha substation. “The municipal supply line which supplies the affected areas had to be switched off in order for Eskom to repair the fault.” The power utility has estimated restoration time at 20:30.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to treat all electrical wiring as live to avoid injury and electrical to switch off appliances to avoid damage once supply is restored.

Electricity users are further urged to report electricity related challenges to Polokwane Municipality’s electrical helpline at 015 023 5490 / 5705. Customers that are supplied by Eskom can report to 015 299 0700 / 0860 037 566.
