[VIDEO] Limpopo traffic official suspended following viral video

A video surfaced on social media, earlier this month, in which a Makhuduthamaga Municipality traffic official assaults a civilian.

LIMPOPO – The Spokesperson for the Makhuduthamaga Municipality, Lemson Moropjane, confirmed to Review that the traffic official, caught on video assaulting a civilian, was suspended last week.

The circumstances around the incident, however, remain unclear.

“He was suspended by the municipality in line with the provision of schedule 8 of the code of conduct of the Labour Relations Act, for a period not exceeding three months with full pay, while a full investigation takes place,” Moropjane explained.

He added that the municipality “views this incident in a serious light” and therefore “continues to appreciate the patience of its stakeholders and the public by allowing due process to take place in the matter, so that correct measures can be taken which corresponds with the incident”.
