Polokwane Muni, SPCA to impound free roaming livestock around Seshego

The decision was made following numerous complaints of damage to property and accidents.

POLOKWANE – Members of the SPCA and the Polokwane Municipality will begin impounding animals that are found roaming the streets free, according to Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala.

Selala urged residents and livestock farmers in the Seshego area to make sure their animals do not roam the streets. “The animals include pigs, cattle, sheep, goats and donkeys. Impounding of stray animals by the municipality and its stakeholders will start from Monday, 26 October,” he explained.

Selala said the decision was made following numerous complaints by community members in the Seshego area where “some of these animals are a nuisance and destroying plants and fences and in some cases, causing accidents on the public roads”.

He added that the impounding is in line with the Road Traffic Act and that livestock owners have been engaged on the matter.
