5 arrested for CIT robbery near Louis Trichardt; manhunt launched for remaining suspects

Police managed to recover a vehicle, five firearms, ammunition as well as an undisclosed amount of money. 

LIMPOPO – A manhunt has been launched for the remaining suspects following a cash-in-transit robbery at a filling station near Capricorn Plaza on the N1.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning according to Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, who explained that an unknown number of robbers attacked and robbed security guards, who were collecting money.

“A few kilometers from the crime scene, at Tshilwavhusikhu outside Louis Trichardt, the police spotted a getaway vehicle and subsequently arrested five suspects, between the ages of 33 and 38,” Mojapelo explained. He said the police managed to recover a vehicle, five firearms, ammunition as well as an undisclosed amount of money.

“The arrested suspects will appear in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court, soon on charges of armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition,” he added. Mojapelo urged anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects, to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or to send a tip-off on the MySAPS App.
