POLOKWANE – Seshego Zone 2’s favourite spinner, Katlego ‘King Katra’ Mokgoshi can now boast the title of the Red Bull Shay’ iMoto 2020 Champion.

King Katra raised Limpopo’s flag high as he battled it out against Cape legend, Eddie Rasta for the coveted title which captivated a global, online audience.

The 20-year-old is well known for his unique stunts and told BONUS he fell in love with spinning at a tender age, thanks to his father, Pux Setsiba, one of the city’s best spinners. In 2015, at the age of 14, Katlego started learning the art of spinning and taking part in local competitions across South Africa and neigbouring countries such as Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland.

BONUS spoke to King Katra about his win, which he attributed to hard work and determination.

“There were times where I didn’t have faith in myself, but I knew I had all the people back home, supporting me. I knew I had to push and make sure I made them proud,” he said.

However, he added that the win was not easy as he was up against the ‘Master of Spin’ and had to ensure that he went with the flow and did what he does best. “This win was the greatest feeling ever and to experience this victory among legends was indescribable,” he added, elated.

“I was scared at first but when I realised I was there to represent the people of Limpopo, who had faith in me, I couldn’t disappoint them,” he said.

King Katra says his most prized possession is his vehicle, which he said he bought second-hand. “While spinning, I realised that the 325 engine was too small for my stunts and that’s when I switched to a Lexus V8 engine as it has more power.”

He said he received help from his father, who is a mechanic, to make sure he had a good engine to spin with.

“I’m confident when it comes to stunts and I knew that would help me win the trophy. For me to represent not only South Africa, but Seshego, was an honour,” he concluded.
