‘No jobs for money’: Dept warns of job scam

The Department of Health says there are con artist who are asking job seekers for money in exchange for a job at the department.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Health has once again warned job seekers to beware of scammers who impersonate officials and offer jobs in lieu of a bribe.

According to Thilivhali Muavha, spokesperson for the MEC, the scammers modus operandi includes impersonating the department’s Human Resources Manager, hospital CEOs, other officials acting on behalf of the department or the MEC’s office officials. Muavha explained that these con artists promise jobs to members of the public and then ask for money to complete the deal.

“The department wishes to advise all and sundry that whenever there are vacant positions to be filled, they will be advertised publicly on media and government platforms. This will then be followed by a selection process of which interviews are conducted to find a suitable candidate for the position.”

If anyone calls under the guise of promising you a post in exchange of money, it is a scam, he added.

“The department is working with law enforcement agencies to arrest these scammers and we call upon job seekers to be vigilant and to report such an incident to the police immediately.
