One of the core values of Mitchell House is the idea of pursuing excellence, and to achieve this the parent association along with the school board decided to upgrade their current tennis and netball courts to a multi-purpose astro turf.
This was introduced on Monday, 5 October with a small celebration. Tennis coaches Iggy Matsiela and Paseka Motsamai from Mitchell House and Curro Heuwelkruin respectively had a two-point match, and within five minutes after the match the tennis court was turned into a netball court. Here the girls played a five-minute match.
Then as everyone left the court, the netball poles were removed and the hockey team played a match against the teachers.
“This is a start of a new season and we would like to pay tribute to our bursar, Godfried Krüger. We realised all competitive hockey takes place on astro turf courts and since our courts were due for an upgrade we decided to turn it into a multi-purpose astro turf court. Now it can be utilised for netball, hockey and tennis.”
Apart from these upgrades there were also upgrades done at the swimming pool with new shading and solar panel heating. All the rugby and soccer fields are irrigated and there is a new spectator box at the rugby field.
“We would like to thank our sponsors for the astro court as we would not have been able to do it without them.
Dada World of Hardware, PanSolutions and the Parents Association made this dream come true.
