Seshego: Woman (51) stabbed, dies on street after attack

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba was at the murder scene just outside the city and has instructed the police to hunt down her killer and bring him to book.

POLOKWANE – Police Spokesperson, Motlafela Mojapelo says a 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday. He is set to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 3 December.

POLOKWANE – The police are investigating the brutal murder of a  50-year-old woman who was attacked and stabbed to death by an unknown assailant in Seshego, Zone 8 at around 08:00 this morning (Wednesday, 14 October).

According to the police the woman was in a vehicle with her assailant when she was stabbed.

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapleo says the police received a call from a member of the community about the body of a woman lying in the street. “Police arrived on the scene to find the deceased lying on the street next to a grey sedan. She had multiple stab wounds and was certified dead on the scene by the emergency medical personnel.”

He added that preliminary police investigations revealed that the said vehicle was stopped at an intersection when the victim emerged. “She was badly injured and collapsed nearby. An unknown man, wearing a yellow overalls, also jumped out of the vehicle and fled from the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.”

Further investigations revealed that the deceased originates from Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga. “Her identity will be revealed once the next of kin have been notified,” Mojapelo said.

The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage but police have not ruled out domestic violence.

A manhunt for the assailant has been launched and the police appeals to anyone with information that can lead to his arrest, to contact the Station Commander Brig Mashilo Lucas Tlhako at 082 443 8907.
