Murdered couple found on their bed: Limpopo police offer R200 000 reward for information

The couple's neighbour, who is also the man's employer, found their baby girl next to their bodies, crying.

LIMPOPO – The police are offering a reward of up to R200 000 to anyone who can provide information which may lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) involved in a double murder that took place in the Mopani district, earlier this week.

This follows the gruesome discovery of the bodies of Nius Malatji (21) and Lusia Malapane (18) in their home at ga-Rapitsi Village, Itireleng Section near Bolobedu on Tuesday, 6 October.

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says their bodies were found by the man’s employer, who is also said to be their neighbour. “He reportedly went to the house at about 12:00 to check on Malatji, after he failed to report for work. Upon arrival, he heard the frantic cries of a baby and called out. When no one responded he entered the house and found the couple lying on the bed in a bedroom. Their 12-month-old baby girl was next to them,” he explained.

The authorities were contacted and upon arrival the police found both victims had sustained multiple stab wounds. They were certified dead on the scene by medical emergency personnel, Mojapelo added.

“The motive for the killing is still unknown,” he said.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba has strongly condemned the brutal manner in which the couple was murdered and added that a team of investigators, led by the District Commissioner, Maj Genl Maggie Mathebula are already working hard on the case to hunt down the killer(s).
