Muni urges families to assess graves and tombstones for possible damage

Plenty of municipal cemeteries have been affected by the recent rainfall and storms.

POLOKWANE – The current storms and heavy rainfall have caused damage at the municipal cemeteries, says the Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality, Thipa Selala.

Selala says the municipality is urging families that have loved ones buried at municipal cemeteries, to assess if their graves and tombstones are still in good condition.

According to a statement by Selala, the graves and tombstones at Seshego Zone 5 and 8, Bloodriver, Extension 44, Newlook, Sebayeng, Silicon, Mankweng, Dahl and the concentration camp, are affected.

He told Review that the damage was reported by municipal officials who work at the sites. “They assess the conditions of graves and tombstone all the time and noticed that some of them are damaged,” Selala explained.
