As of Wednesday, 23 September, 1 906 new cases of Covid-19 were identified in South Africa, bringing the total number of cases to 665 188.
The Department of Health reported 88 new Covid-19 related deaths:
- 18 from Kwa Zulu-Natal
- 11 from Gauteng
- 22 from Limpopo
- 9 from North West
- 17 from Western Cape
- 2 from Eastern Cape
- 13 from Mpumalanga
This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 16 206.
The total number of tests conducted to date is 4 083 757 with 19 640 new tests conducted since the last report.
The country’s recoveries stands at 594 229, which translates to a recovery rate of 89.3%.
