NUM marches to Ivanplats over ‘unfair retrenchment’
Members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) handed over a memorandum of demands to the management of Ivanplats Mine following the 'unfair retrenching of workers'.
LIMPOPO – According to a statement issued by the organisation, the mine served workers, some of who are affiliated with NUM with a notice of retrenchment on 27 May. “NUM approached the CCMA who facilitation the process, however no agreement could be reached, within 60 days as per section 189A. On 5 August the workers were served with termination of service letters.
Ivanplats Mine could not immediately comment on the matter.
