Police launch manhunt for four men who attacked Univen students

Two of the students were gang-raped during the incident.

LIMPOPO – A case of house robbery and two counts of rape are being investigated by the police following an attack on three students from the University of Venda (Univen). In a statement, Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said one man, and two woman were attacked at an off-campus residence in Thohoyandou P West at around 04:00 on Monday. “It is alleged the four attackers, one armed with a firearm, broke into the room of a 30-year-old student and robbed him of money and a cellphone. They then proceeded to the other rooms, where they robbed two female students of their cellphones and a laptop. The four men then dragged the two women outside and gang-raped them.”

The police have since launched a a manhunt for perpetrators and appeals to anyone with information that can lead to their arrest, to contact Det Sgt Takalani Mulaudzi at 082 487 6319. Alternatively then can contact the 24-hour Crime Stop number at 086 001 0111.
