In the video, supplied to Review by mall management, policemen can be seen running up the stairs towards the taxi rank before firing shots at a white VW Golf.

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says a case of attempted murder and malicious damage to property has been opened and the suspect is in custody. “He is set to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates Court, soon,” he said.

In a seperate incident, mall management say they had investigated an alleged attempted kidnapping near one of the mall’s entrances. A post circulating on social media alleges that a woman in her late 20’s was almost kidnapped at gunpoint after being approached by a suspicious looking male, however, no incident was reported to centre management by car guards on duty or patrons.

“We investigated and questioned the parties concerned and again, no one was aware of the incident.”

The centre says it has made contact with the complainant in order to obtain more accurate information regarding the alleged incident, without any success. “We were blocked by the complainant when we tried to contact her,” the representative told Review.
