LIMPOPO – A 43-year-old security guard at Shihoko Clinic in the Letsitele policing area outside Tzaneen, was shot several times at around 02:45 on Thursday.
According to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, the man was shot by his colleague.
“A 49-year-old woman was arrested after she shot him several times using a service pistol before she fled the scene,” Mojapelo said.
The police were alerted of the incident after people in the neighbourhood heard gunshots.
“The police found the victim unconscious and he was taken to hospital for medical treatment.”
Mojapelo said that a search operation for the man’s colleague commenced.
“The woman was found at her boyfriend’s place at Shihoko and arrested. The firearm believed to be the one used in the shooting, was also confiscated,” he added.
The motive for the incident is unknown according to Mojapelo and police investigations are ongoing.
“The suspect will appear in the Rivati Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 7 August on a charge of attempted murder,” he concluded.
