Limpopo Covid-19 cases nearing 10 000 mark

The province saw an increase of 244 cases in the last 24 hours

LIMPOPO – According to the latest figures issued by the Limpopo Health Department, the province stands at 9 605 cases of which 2 604 are active. A total of 6 911 people have recovered and 90 deaths have been recorded.

A total of 244 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, of which the majority were reported in the Waterberg district; 56 in Thabazimbi, 11 in Mogalakwena, six in Bela Bela, four each in the Lephalale and Modimolle -Mookgophong municipalities, respectively.

The Capricorn District recorded 55 new cases, of which Polokwane reported 46, Lepelle Nkumpi seven and one each in Blouberg and Molemole. In Vhembe 45 new cases were reported of which 25 were reported in Thulamela, 18 in Makhado and one each in the Musina and Collins Chabane municipalities, respectively.

A total of 36 new cases were recorded in the Sekhukhune district; 16 reported in Elias Motsoaledi, 15 in Fetakgomo Tubatse, 4 in Makhuduthamaga and one in Ephraim Mogale municipality.

The Mopani district recorded 27 cases, 15 in Tzaneen, five in Ba-Phalaborwa, three, Giyani, three in Letaba and one in Maruleng. Three cases are in transit.

As of 5 August 65 551 tests have been conducted, 33 893 in the public sector and 31 658 private.
