Today marks 131 days since the nationwide lockdown was announced and although some sectors of the economy have gradually been opened, gyms remain closed.

The protest was organised by Fit SA who protested against what they call the ‘irrational closure’ of gyms that does ‘not make sense at all’.

According to Body Life Club Manager, Conrad Labuschagne, their main focus is to make communities and government aware that they are putting the entire fitness fraternity at jeopardy.

“We can make a change by getting people healthy and exercising again. This is to create awareness and get our gyms open again,” Labuschagne said.

Review also spoke to gymgoers and an instructor on what the protest means to them.
