Mainline pipe burst repaired, says muni

The Polokwane Municipality says the pipeline has been repaired, however temporary relief measures will still be provided.

POLOKWANE – A pipe that burst on the mainline at the Dap Naude Dam has been repaired, says Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala.

The pipeline was damaged over the weekend and resulted in the closure of the Dalmada Water Purification Plant. This resulted in parts of the city, in particular the high lying areas, experiencing water shortages.

“The Dap Naude Dam pipeline has been repaired and water supply to the city has been restored. The water will still have to undergo a purification process, then into the reservoirs and finally to supply areas.”

He adds that the reservoir levels are starting to recover and that some areas are already receiving water supply.

Temporary relief measures will still be provided to the areas through water tankers. Numbers to call in case of water challenges are (015) 023 5376/5629.
