Damage to pipes: Parts of Westenburg, Seshego without water

Water supply will be restored once repairs have been done.

POLOKWANE – Some residents and businesses in Westenburg and Seshego will be without water due to two pipes that burst in their areas.

In Westenburg a pipe burst in Buys Street, near the corner of Buys and Peters Streets. Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala confirmed the incident and added that a 400 mm high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe was burnt in Seshego.

“The pipe was damaged people made a fire under the bridge on Nelson Mandela Drive next to extension 78 (Disteneng),” Selala said.

He added that water supply on both lines have been stopped in order for the teams to repair the lines.

“The repairs on the line to Seshego is expected to take more time due to its size. Water supply shall be restored once the pipes are repaired. In the meantime, the municipality will continue to provide water tankers to the affected areas,” Selala explained.

He reminded stakeholders to report the vandalism of service infrastructure to police and water challenges to the Municipal Water and Sanitation call centre at (015) 023 5376 / 5629.
