Food drive aims to feed more than 200 local people this Sunday

Nazneen Khan is the driving force behind the project and says food item donations would be appreciated.

POLOKWANE – Nazneen Khan, local philanthropist and founder of Salaamut Group Projects, will be hosting a food drive in Westenburg RDP on Sunday, 2 August.

The drive will be hosted in conjunction with Spar at the Game Centre with the aim of showing love for the underprivileged by sharing a meal with them.  “We are targeting people living in the area because we have identified a need there. We will meet behind the white tent at the entrance of RDP on Ben Harris street,” she said.

They hope to feed 200 people with a healthy, yet hearty meal on the day. “We are requesting assistance with food items such as vegetables to help put this meal together for the community. Although the target is 200 people, we would love to feed more. We know the need is greater than the target,” she explained.

This event is one of a number that will be taking place this year under the premise of giving back. She added that for the sponsors that do come on board, she will be doing a live cover so that they can see exactly where their donations are going and how they will be put to good use. Nazneen can be reached at 074 239 7786 or salaamutgroupprojects785@gmail.com
