Helping hand helps to rebuild their home

A family who lost most of their belongings in a fire last year, has received some much-needed help.

POLOKWANE – The Spiritual Care, Medical and Community Chaplain answered the plea of a family in Mankweng who lost their belongings in a fire in 2019.

The Chaplain recently visited the Mathabatha household to donate clothing, blankets, foods as well as a cash donation which they managed to get through sponsors. The Provincial Organiser for the Chaplain, Albert Masingi said one of their members in the area was able to identify the family, who had not received help from anyone and were still struggling.

Masingi says they also took the time to clean the house and help them remove rubble that was still inside. “Even though the fire occurred last year, one could clearly see the remains and we wanted to help them rebuild their lives.”

He added that the donation formed part of their International Nelson Mandela month initiatives in which they strive to make long lasting impressions on the lives of those in need. “We offer spiritual care, counselling and where we can, donations.”

In a separate donation by the Chaplain, 30 food parcels were given to the Moletjie Traditional House, in a bid to alleviate a lack of food supply in the area. Masingi says the Chaplain always tries to do their best to assist disadvantaged families.
