POLOKWANE – After trying to make a name for herself in various industries, Eve-Lyn Matemera made the brave decision to follow her heart and her decade-long passion by starting her own business, Make-Up by Eve in 2018.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Eve-Lyn is now based in Polokwane, and is focusing on making a success out of her business. “I have been interested in make-up since the age of 16. When I completed school, I wanted to pursue my dream of obtaining a beauty course certificate, but due to lack of funds, I could not proceed further.” This, she said, led her to teaching herself certain make-up techniques.
She told Review she loves bright eyeshadows and enjoys experimenting with various colours as it reflects joy from within. She added that applying make-up is a form of art.
“Make-up brings joy to my heart. Some of my clients look down on themselves but once I work on them, they begin to see their own beauty. Enhancing their beauty and being able to put a smile on someone’s face makes me really happy,” she added.
Her prayer is for God to use her hands to create more art, build confidence and exhibit more love through her brushes, she said. She also hopes to have her own beauty parlour one day and use it as a way to educate others on how to grow in the industry.
