Thorisho Kgomo murder case postponed

POLOKWANE – The murder case of Thorisho Kgomo has been postponed to 24 August after a Covid-19 case was identified at the Seshego Magistrates Court. The case was scheduled for Thursday, 23 July.

Kgomo succumbed to his injuries in hospital after he was stabbed on 1 January in Seshego Zone 3 while at a party with friends. A 17-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

Thorisho Kgomo: ‘Gone but never forgotten’

His death sparked outrage in the community and members of various political parties took to the streets and rounded up people they suspected to have be involved in criminal activities in the area. The people were handed over to the police but were later released as there were no cases brought up against them.National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi has confirmed that the court was closed but was unable to give further comment on the matter.

Rhodes Kgomo, the family’s spokesperson said that the family was still confident in the justice system after the reason for the postponement was explained to them. “We still have a bit of hope and we understand that the postponement was due to reasons beyond their control.”
