Dad denied bail for murder of 4 children

The man was arrested in February and charged with the murders following a police manhunt

LIMPOPO -The Mecklenburg Magistrate Court on Thursday denied bail to a 50-year-old man who was charged with the murder of his four children.

The man is accused of killing his four children aged three, five, seven and nine at Ga-Phasha, Selatole village on 18 February. On the same morning, he reportedly told a neighbour about the murders and pointed out the location of their bodies.

Following his admission the police were notified and the bodies of all four children, were located within a three kilometer radius. Three of the bodies were found in the nearby bushes. The third body, that of the youngest child, was discovered near to a mountain. Three of children where found with stab wounds. The youngest was found with open wounds, according to earlier police reports.

The police launched a manhunt for the accused and he was arrested the following day at ga-Phasha village.

He faces four counts of murder and has been in custody since his first court appearance on 20 February. He has been remanded in custody until 7 September for further bail application.
